How Do "Green" Elevators Stay Green?

Freedom Green Residential ElevatorThink installing a residential elevator means you'll be leaving a larger carbon footprint? Think again.

There are "green" elevators out that live up to the description of being environmentally friendly.

How can an elevator stay green? It starts with lower energy consumption but that's just the tip of the iceberg (so to speak). The material of the elevator and the technology powering the elevator are other important factors. So do choices on things like interior paint, flooring, control panels, lighting and HVAC systems.

Nationwide Lifts is proud to feature the Freedom Green residential elevator. This is a residential elevator that delivers a comfortable and affordable means of personal transportation, all while staying true to its "green" roots.

The Freedom Green features the variable frequency drive system. This technology ensures a smooth ride. It also allows for a weight capacity of 1,000 lbs.

The Freedom Green is designed to provide energy savings of up to 50% compared to conventional home elevators. This is accomplished through the use of a counterbalanced system which results in the motor requiring very little power to move the elevator cab.

The lack of a machine room also leads to greater energy savings. Machine rooms take up plenty of square footage and more than a little electricity. The Freedom Green makes efficient use of space.

The Freedom Green also functions without the use of hydraulic oil. A typical home hydraulic elevator requires between 20-25 gallons of hydraulic oil to operate the lifting cylinder. If this oil can get into water sources, it can create an environmental hazard.
